So, rather weirdly, murder was made almost acceptable in Trek. What are your thoughts on this? We had Dukat kill Dax in cold blood.

I love darker side things, hell I have had my character commit torture at times to get what they needed and believe me Jane would blast her way through anything to protect the Federation cause it may be a lot of smoke and mirrors it is still the best option out there

Well one of our crew murdered an entire space station

he basically blew it up

In something like DS9, where the stakes are that high, murder and death are inevitable. To leave it out would be very unrealistic

he then go tthrown in prison until jag sealed him ina box then he was needed again

There is a reason why the speech of in the pale moonlight is so damn good

so they basically made him the captains pet at that point

My character has never considered torture largely on account of it not being effective re: accurate info

Depends on how and when it is applied

And how you verify it

And well you should never depend on a single source

or you just make them think you are going to torture or harm them or their family

So combine that and it works like a charm at times

Anyone ever had their CO character on the verge of permitting "dark" acts in the name of defending the Federation

usually that is good enough to get what you need unless you are dealing iwth someone with formal training

Phsycological torture is very effective

And I mean beyond combat

some of the best turning is done without laying a finger. Any of you chaps seen the TV version of Tinker Taylor soldier Spy or read the book? (edited)

Dark acts are hard to lay down, I think I have broken the rules and codes of etics quite often.

As long as your player base goes along with you, it's okay. It's only when the player base doesn't like it that it becomes an issue

if my CO character did not work for the President's special tactical unit

she would have lost her command by now

I have a scene currently re: picking who of a group is most viable to have turn and cooperate vs. who gets to just go through the justice process and probably wind up assassinated by his former clients.

I play because its a GAME. Its fun. And I love wroting soloposts and joint posts

No one is supposed to be happy with the decision to do such things, @Phoenix Lalor so if people dont agree, that can make the situation more realistic

I have actually been through writing an entire court maarshal case with a marine CO of mine which was just a means for command to try an cover up

I think if you play a dark Federation Officer you have to be IC and OOC ready for moral purist Federation officers to take issue with it IC (edited)

My character was the CHOPS who got promoted when the XO mutinied. Then the CO sacrificed himself and made my 25 year old ops chief CO

surely though, whilst your charachter would command in an emergency due to the deaths of seniors, they would be replaced by someone qualified when returning to base (edited)

The character I used for my Co was a doctor

my CO character was literally made Captain after a few months on the job due to long story short war

My captain was on the command track out of the gates, planning to explore the universe, then the dominion war happened and she saw reality again and thinking back of home she made some personal oaths and ever since she has not stopped fighting.

Now Yuka thinks she can save the galaxy

Serving under her command is a dangerous thing to do and hence she only accepts volunteers, people who know and accept the risks willingly.

I got a more experienced XO and set loose

Yuka married her XO basically

having a 20 year marine vet as your XO will do that though

But with those oaths it does mean she will do anything to keep the Federation save, the rules be damned cause she learned in war rules mean nothing, only winning means something.

Well Jane will sacrifise people, she accepts that she is command and part of that means at times sending people to their deaths.

in my universe the prime directive doesnt even exist anymore

I dodnt think I have

they still have noninterferance but its part of the generla orders

O yeah she will never send anyone to their doom without a damn gfoo dreason and she had a bronze plague (a large one) behind her desk with the names of all those who died under her command to remind her of that fact every single day

though the military doesnt exactly follow that cause all defense was moved from starfleet to a military organization

so starfleet could go exploring Yuka and her crew are part of that defense organization

well it took them a long time to realize that

my sim takes place in 4566

now they have the navy, marines and an army that does nothing

cause they have no ships

they just sit on planets protecting them

but how useful is that

who would they attack?

Few key worlds of their enemies to force them to their knees

Or just all of them and take over in all the time you got
