More I wanted to talk about making them characters. That having an ace of all trades hero ship is like a Mary Sue character and then to find those traits and quirks that help make your ship stand apart from others.

I currently am in command of a Defiant class vessel called the USS Valiant. It's a small ship, but we intend to make it a sort of family ship, where as a crew we do a lot together like eating, even sleeping, most of the crew share quarters and we intend to make the ship an intergral part of the crew

@[MFU] Meran Marci Sorry, got caught up in the DSC talk. That's perfect, the Defiant isn't a large ship, it was built to fight, not to be comfortable.

Yea, I wrote that she is an older model and had been refitted for science/Diplomatic and intelligence missions. Actually that works.

See, that'd be some interesting challenges because those all pretty much are the opposite of what the Defiant was intended at the outset, so therein lies the challenge - making it so it can find that new role

There was the Defiant, and then when it exploded squish there was the San Palo, which was then renamed Defiant.

I basically took command of the vessel on OF which was listed on OF as just the USS Valiant

The Valiant Jake and Nog were picked up on when they were in the Gamma Quadrant in a runabout and attacked by Jem Ha'dar.

All the officers dead and all the cadets took command.

I remember now. I just didn't remember the ship was called the Valiant

Memory Alpha is always a good check, but there is precident where they tend to just name a ship after a previous one with no continuity too

Yea well I thought a big fleet as OF, they must know what they're doing, and the days you can create your own ship and name are over there, apparently, you need to pick from a list, and that ship needs to be in the TF you want to go to as well. So confusing (edited)

My sim in PF, is an Olympic class in 2399. I am playing the ship as one brought out of mothballs, so she is gonna be having problems. Though she has excellent medical facilities, her engineering stuff is not very top of the line.

Something else that I didn't get to touch on but worth considering when looking at fanon designs - while we want to ask "what is missing and can be filled with a design" also ask "does this fit in the setting?"

Like, battleships and troop ships don't really fit with Starfleet's mandate for example
